Staff Bio's
George E. Runnels, DVM
Dr. Runnels acquired Augusta Animal Emergency on May 1, 2007, but he is not new to the area’s veterinary community. He has been a staff veterinarian at AAE since 2003 and has practiced veterinary emergency medicine since 2000.
Dr. Runnels and his family moved back to Aiken in 2003 for their love of the CSRA area and to bring his family closer to his wife’s parents who have lived in Aiken, SC for over 30 years.
He graduated from Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. Dr. Runnels’ career in emergency and critical care started in Savannah, GA under the mentorship of Dr. Paul Shealy, DVM, ACVS.
When the opportunity presented itself to assume ownership of AAE, he took it because of his love for the challenges associated with pet emergency and critical care.
