About Augusta Animal Emergency

Augusta Animal Emergency is dedicated solely to emergency and critical care for the companion animal.

What makes us different?

We are not distracted by routine, elective, or preventative veterinary care or boarding which allows us to be prompt and efficient when caring for your special family member.

Your sick or injured pet will be examined immediately upon arrival by our experienced and highly trained staff and will be treated with the respect and love we would treat our own special family members.

Some of the special services we provide include in-house lab diagnostics, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, digital anesthetic monitoring, tonometry, non-invasive blood pressure monitoring, and various forms of thermal support. We maintain an extensive inventory of pharmaceutical items not typically found in general practice veterinary clinics, including anti-venin and fresh frozen plasma with access to antidotes for various medical emergencies and blood donors for whole blood transfusions.

Our Story

Augusta Animal Emergency has been providing exceptional emergency and critical veterinary care to the CSRA community since 2000.

Dr. George Runnels, a staff veterinarian since 2002, assumed ownership in May 2007 and has carried on the well-established AAE philosophy as well as adding specialty veterinary services, including dentistry, ophthalmology, and internal medicine.

AAE is a practice partner with area veterinarians providing quality service and veterinary care when your regular veterinarian is not available or when intensive critical care is needed for your pet.

AAE is a member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society - a wonderful source for the latest research and innovations in veterinary medicine.
